BAHAMAS
WAHOO CHAMPIONSHIP 2007-2008
PRELIMINARY OUTLINE OF
RULES OF THE TOURNAMENT
-
Boats may leave the docks at
6:00 AM
for an
8:00 AM
lines in the water.
-
When returning to the
Marina
, Boats must pass the “Malone” line- Terminator line, by 5:00 PM. Boats
failing to pass the Terminator line at exactly 5:00 PM will be disqualified
for the days fishing.
-
Time Tournament- 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
-
Boundaries will be announced at the opening meeting. The
Committee cannot enforce the adherence by the participants to the boundaries
therefore it is the responsibility of all boats to police this rule and
report any infraction to the Committee in writing by
6:00 PM
on the day of the infraction. It is strongly advised that all GPS records of
the days fishing be kept and not erased until the day’s results have been
declared official.
-
Wahoo only to count.
-
20 pound minimum weight.
-
Up to six (6) rods and reels.
-
Two (2) wire lines per boat may be used.
-
Minimum angling rules.
-
No mutilated Wahoo will be weighed in. The decision of the
weigh-master is final and cannot be appealed. The tail must be attached to
the fish. If any part of the tail is “dangling”, the fish will be
considered to be mutilated. Cuts suffered by a fish inside a fish-box will
be scrutinized on an individual basis. These rulings are usually on the
lenient side. Boats are encouraged to utilize fish boxes with ice and ice
water to prevent the scarring of fish.
-
Mutilation to the fish, prior to landing or boating the
catch, caused by sharks, other fish, mammals, or propellers that remove or
penetrate the flesh. (Injuries caused by leader or line, scratches, old
healed scars or regeneration deformities are not considered to be
disqualifying injuries.)
-
No boat can off-load their catch for weigh-in until verified
and counted by a Tournament official or an appointed member of the staff.
-
All fish must be weighed-in every day. Whole fish cannot be
kept on a boat unless they are cut or marked. The Committee reserves the
right to board any boat at any time in order to check for whole Wahoo. If a
whole, unmarked Wahoo is found on-board any boat that boat will be
disqualified from the tournament and any monies will not be returned.
-
The Committee reserves the right to use any proven device to
ensure the freshness of a fish at the time of weigh-in. The decision of the
test and the Committee is final and is not subject to appeal.
-
Tournament catch slips indicating the number of fish caught
that day must be presented at the weigh-in station
-
A radio channel will be designated for communications
between the participating boats. Hook-ups or landings need not be called in
to the Committee. The Committee boat will only communicate with the
participating boats one half- hour prior to boats leaving the docks and one
half-hour prior to the Boats crossing the Terminator line. The host resorts
will monitor normal radio traffic.
-
In case of a mechanical breakdown Wahoo cannot be
transferred from one boat to another.
-
Scoring. One point per pound of eligible Wahoo to count.
-
The Bahamas Wahoo Championship is a boat Tournament and it
is expected that a person fishing more than one tournament, or the entire
series, will utilize the same boat. If a change of boat is contemplated,
either due to the sale of the previous boat, or damage to the boat, or
verifiable serious mechanical problems, or any other cause, the Boat Owner
(Team Captain) MUST notify the Committee prior to the start of the
tournament that it is his/her intention to substitute boats. It is strongly
advised that the Committee make a ruling prior to the substitute boat
departing for the
Bahamas
. The Committee will review the eligibility of that boat for one tournament,
or the balance of the series. The decision of the Committee is final and
cannot be appealed.
-
Protests. Protests must be in writing and presented to the
Tournament Director prior to the
6:00 PM
closing of the weigh-in station. Protests must be accompanied by $ 150 cash
(to be returned if the protest is upheld). In case there are more than one
boat signatures on a protest form, each boat signature must be accompanied
by $150. All team members will agree and abide with the decision of the
tournament director.
-
LOCAL RULES. All local rules will be discussed at the
opening meeting. There will be no use of the Inland Waterway at Port Lucaya
Marina.
-
The weigh-in station will open at
5:00 PM
and close at
6:00 PM
sharp. Any boat having fish to weigh-in must be in line with their catch in
or very close to the weigh-in area by 6:00 PM. Boats waiting in line just
prior to the 6:00 PM closing will be “listed” as being in line prior to
6:00 PM. All boats listed as being in line prior to
6:00 PM
will have their catch weighed-in even if it occurs after
6:00 PM
. Any boat not on the list will not have their catch weighed-in.
-
All boats must return to Port Lucaya Marina. If a boat is
given permission to stay at another locale, they agree to adhere to a strict
set of reporting rules which will be imposed by the Tournament Director.
-
The tournament reserves the right to refuse entry or
participation of any boat or individuals in the tournament.
-
The official and final set of rules will be handed out to
all participants at re-registration and at the opening meeting.
